Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale has held consultations with a United States delegation to review progress in implementing the Government-to-Government (G2G) health cooperation framework between Kenya and the United States.
Duale hosted U.S. Embassy Deputy Head of Mission Carla Benini, who led the delegation, alongside representatives from PwC and the Project Management Unit (PMU), for discussions on the ongoing transition to the G2G financing model.
The meeting reviewed key areas, including oversight mechanisms, risk and capacity assessments, transition milestones and preliminary findings.
The parties reaffirmed that all material decisions will continue to be considered jointly through established bilateral governance structures to ensure transparency and accountability throughout the transition.
According to the Ministry of Health, the outstanding risk and capacity assessment will be completed within a jointly agreed finite timeframe. The required disbursement instrument will also be finalised to operationalise the Government’s on-budget commitment.
The meeting further underscored the importance of predictable, transparent and consistent funding in line with the agreed transition framework.
Duale said the transition is progressing within a clear, Government-approved framework designed to safeguard accountability, continuity of essential health services and effective use of resources.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretaries Dr. Ouma Oluga and Mary Muthoni, Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, U.S. Embassy representatives, and heads of Ministry agencies and directorates.
