Kenya and Germany are exploring new opportunities to strengthen labour cooperation, with a focus on expanding employment pathways, skills development and labour mobility for Kenyans seeking opportunities in the German market.
Labour Principal Secretary Shadrack Mwadime hosted Ms. Sabine Odhiambo for discussions aimed at advancing Kenya–Germany labour relations and enhancing collaboration between the two countries.
The talks focused on increasing labour migration opportunities to Germany and preparing for the upcoming African Ambassadors Labour Mobility Summit scheduled to take place in Berlin in September.
The two sides also discussed initiatives to support German language training among Kenyans through potential involvement of retired German teachers.
In addition, discussions explored opportunities for German companies to provide skills development programmes designed to align Kenya’s workforce competencies with the demands of the German labour market.
PS Mwadime said the government remains committed to creating pathways that promote skills development, decent work opportunities and international labour mobility for Kenyans.
The partnership is expected to strengthen workforce readiness while opening up more opportunities for Kenyan professionals and skilled workers in the global labour market.
