The Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) has dismissed allegations that some of its personnel stole part of a major narcotics haul intercepted off the Kenyan coast in October.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, KDF said a multi-agency security team successfully intercepted a dhow on 25th October 2025 transporting 1,024 kilograms of methamphetamine (crystal meth). The drugs were offloaded for secure storage as investigations commenced.
However, reports later emerged claiming that certain KDF officers involved in the offloading operation stole and concealed some of the narcotics for personal gain.
KDF has clarified that the entire consignment remains intact and under 24-hour protection by a multi-agency security team.
“The entire 1,024 kilograms of methamphetamine offloaded ashore remains intact and is under continuous, round-the-clock protection,” the statement said.
The military added that the personnel accused of wrongdoing are under investigation by relevant authorities. KDF assured the public that any officer found culpable will face disciplinary and legal action.
“Should the allegations be substantiated, appropriate disciplinary and legal measures will be taken in accordance with the law,” KDF said.
The press release was issued by the KDF Strategic Communications Office.
