Two months ago, Kenya witnessed one of the most powerful demonstrations of unity and humanity. Through the influence of Kenyan TikTokers and the relentless spirit of ordinary citizens, a man who had been bedridden and struggling after a stroke was finally located thanks to the heartfelt videos shared by his son, popularly known as Kaluma Boy.
Today, that story has taken a beautiful turn.
Bishop Kiengei announced that after two months of intensive therapy at Jumuia Hospital Huruma, Baba Kaluma has officially been discharged under the JCM Church Medical Plan. Their patron, Mofarm JM, also escorted him to Chaka, Nyeri County, where a new house is being constructed for the family. The once-ailing father, who had endured months of immobility and hardship, is now optimistic, smiling, and embracing life anew. “Compassionate souls are here for you,” Kiengei said, celebrating the collective effort that made this miracle possible.
At the center of this national movement is 17-year-old Vincent Kaluma, the teen whose raw, emotional TikTok videos documenting life as his father’s caregiver touched millions. Balancing school, farm duties, and full-time caregiving, Kaluma opened a window into a world many never see-the quiet, exhausting, and often lonely struggle of caring for a sick parent.
His honesty elicited the first ripples of compassion. On September 28, 2025, thousands journeyed to his village in Othaya to stand by him, providing every kind of financial, emotional, and spiritual support. What began as storytelling instantly became a call to action across the country.
It is this resilience that has propelled Kaluma into a brighter future. Recently, he received a full scholarship to study digital marketing at East African University.
