Information and Communication Cabinet Secretary nominee William Kabogo has pledged to introduce laws to address cyberattacks and regulate AI misuse if confirmed for the role.

Speaking during his vetting on Tuesday, Kabogo highlighted the growing threats posed by AI and emphasized the need for real-time responses to cyber threats.

“Cyberattacks are a global phenomenon, and the attacks are becoming more serious due to AI, which can be both beneficial and harmful,” Kabogo said.

He also raised concerns about misinformation fueled by AI on social media, particularly among young people, and called for ethical use of technology.

“In the future, these young people will be parents, and we need to foster a culture of responsibility regarding AI and the internet,” he added.

Kabogo pledged to collaborate with legislators to balance technological freedom with responsible use.
