The government has reiterated its commitment to connecting all public sector facilities to the internet.
This is in a bid to expand the digital space and improve service delivery to citizens across the country.
On Tuesday evening, the Cabinet Secretary for Information, Communications and the Digital Economy William Kabogo made an unannounced visit to the Coast Regional Police Headquarters.
There, Mr. Kabogo held talks with Regional Police Commander Ali Nuno on enhancing internet connectivity in the region.
“The digital transformation of government services cannot be achieved without strong, reliable internet infrastructure,” said Cabinet Secretary Kabogo.
He added that, “We are prioritizing connectivity in key sectors such as security, health, and education to ensure faster and more efficient public service delivery.”
Mr. William Kabogo emphasized that digital connectivity is vital for modern policing, especially in the era of smart security systems and real-time data sharing.
Regional Commander Mr. Dubat welcomed the initiative, saying, “Reliable internet access will greatly enhance our operations and communication across the region. It’s a necessary step toward improving the safety and responsiveness of our security services.”
The visit is part of the Ministry’s wider efforts to assess and fast-track digital infrastructure upgrades across all regions, starting with critical government departments.
