Jackie Chan, the martial arts superstar and global film icon, has found himself at the center of social media storm after another death hoax went viral.
The 72-year-old actor went viral following hoax he is dead spreading on Facebook claiming had passed away “after battle with complications from decades of set injuries.”
Jackie’s family confirmed the news, stating the news was all fake. The rumors were shared alongside a black and white photograph of Jackie Chan with the caption “1954-2026. Jacki [sic] Chan had passed the age of 71 now he’s 72, kung-fu legend.”
This is not the first time that Jackie Chan been subject of a death hoax.
His career has spanned over decades across the Hong Kong and Hollywood cinema, with his last public appearance being in Singapore in July, when he visited Pei Chun Public School as part of an event.
Earlier this year, he also attended the Cannes Film Festival, where he spoke about his career and received a standing ovation during a celebration of his work.
Jackie Chan’s most recent movies were The Karate Kid: Legend, the 2025 Chinese film The Shadow’s Edge and Kung Fu Panda.
