A group of Eders representing various ethnic communities in Isiolo County has condemned divisive party politics and external interference for the ongoing leadership crisis that recently saw Governor Abdi Ibrahim Guyo controversially impeached by the County Assembly only to be saved by the Senate on technical grounds.

Speaking during a press conference, the elders pointed fingers at the United Democratic Movement (UDM) Party leader Senator Ali Roba and Marsabit Governor Mohamud Ali, accusing them of orchestrating the fallout between Isiolo MCAs and Governor Guyo.

The elders warned that the involvement of leaders from neighboring counties in Isiolo’s politics could also destabilise the county’s fragile ethnicity.

They urged political leaders to respect the will of the Isiolo people and allow local leaders to resolve their issues without undue pressure from neighboring counties.
