Former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Mithika Linturi has called out President William Ruto for ‘lying to the public’ that they are engaged in secret talks for the former to be offered another state job.

Speaking in Meru during his development tour of the Mt. Kenya region, President Ruto told the residents that he was involved in talks with Linturi and he would secure another government appointment for him.

However, speaking to Weru TV on Sunday, the former Agriculture CS denied ever having such talks, saying that he last talked to President Ruto in December 2024 when he accompanied Meru bishops for a meeting convened by the president.

“The last time we spoke was on 10th December. And I had not gone to look for a job. We had gone together with Meru bishops. That was the last time. So for him to come and tell people that we talk and we keep talking is a lie,” said Linturi.

The former CS further declared that he is not interested in any government appointment in the Kenya Kwanza administration.

“I also want to say unequivocally that I do not want Ruto's job. I am not interested. This is the first time I was in a situation where I was given a job and then fired. So now I can look for a job for myself. I don’t need him. I respect Meru people because they believe in me,” Linturi added.
