Inter Governmentat Authority and Development (IGAD) has officially opened the leadership development training for the first cohort of it’s Leadership Academy to empower future leaders
Speaking during the four days intensive IGAD leadership academy development training at the Kenya school of government in Mombasa county,Gebenehu noted that it was only through the unity of purpose among the youth that will drive the transformation, strengthen democratic governance, respect human rights, rule of law and enhance peace and security across our region.
Gebeyehu has called on the youth in the region to cultivate self-awareness, critical thinking, adaptability and collaboration as key competencies for effective leadership.
The executive secretary noted that it was only through the unity of purpose among the youth that will drive the transformation, strengthen democratic governance, respect human rights, rule of law and enhance peace and security across our region
Sentiments echoed by the Japanese Embassy representative Yoki Mochizuki reiterated their commitment to ensuring that the youth get the necessary skills and bring change to the region.
“The Japanese government is committed to working closely with the IGAD Leadership Academy to ensure the success of this program. We sincerely hope that the graduates will make significant contributions to the peace and development of the IGAD region,” said Mochizuki
