Inspector General of Police, Mr. Douglas Kanja, on May 3, 2025, joined regional police chiefs at the vibrant closing ceremony of the East Africa Police Chiefs Cooperation Organisation (EAPCCO) Games held at the Addis Ababa Sports Academy.
Kenya finished second overall with an impressive haul of 61 medals—16 gold, 25 silver, and 20 bronze—just behind host nation Ethiopia. The week-long event featured athletics, handball, darts, javelin, boxing, and shooting, under the theme: “Partnering for Peace and Security in Countering Transnational Organised Crime through Sports.”
In his remarks, IG Kanja praised Team Kenya’s performance and emphasized the importance of sports in strengthening regional ties and combating transnational crimes. He reminded officers to uphold discipline and integrity both on and off the field.
The event concluded with a celebration hosted by Kenya’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, H.E. George Morara Orina, who congratulated the team for flying the national flag high.
The ceremony was also attended by senior NPS officials and regional dignitaries, including Rwanda’s IGP Felix Namuhoranye, the current EAPCCO Chair.
