The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has invited qualified and experienced Kenyans to apply for the position of Commission Secretary/Chief Executive Officer (CS/CEO), as the electoral body seeks to strengthen the leadership of its Secretariat.
The successful candidate will serve as the Commission’s Chief Executive Officer, Head of Secretariat and Accounting Officer, while also acting as the custodian of all IEBC records.
According to the vacancy announcement, applicants must be Kenyan citizens, hold a degree from a recognised university and have at least five years’ proven management-level experience.
Candidates must also demonstrate relevant experience in at least one of seven areas: electoral matters, management, finance, governance, public administration, law or political science. Applicants are required to meet the leadership and integrity requirements under Chapter Six of the Constitution of Kenya.
The CS/CEO will be responsible for executing Commission decisions, supervising staff, coordinating the implementation of IEBC’s mandate and ensuring compliance with public ethics and values.
The office holder will also provide strategic leadership to the Secretariat, oversee the Commission’s day-to-day administrative functions, prepare annual plans and estimates, and manage financial and administrative operations.
Other responsibilities will include implementing the Commission’s strategic plan, mobilising and managing resources, and ensuring the safe custody of official documents.
The position will be offered on a four-year contract, with the possibility of reappointment for one additional four-year term, subject to satisfactory performance.
