Tanzanian comedian Idris Sultan has once again addressed the long-standing issue surrounding his Sh38 million Big Brother Africa prize money, hitting back at his ex-girlfriend, Wema Sepetu. Wema has repeatedly denied claims that she squandered any part of his prize money during their relationship, which spanned from late 2015 to mid-2016, just after Idris won the money in December 2014.

In response to Wema’s comments, Idris expressed frustration at the constant resurfacing of the topic. He openly admitted to spending his prize money on a lavish lifestyle and women, leading many fans to place the blame on Wema for dating him during that period. However, Wema has consistently denied any involvement in his financial mismanagement. In a recent interview, she clarified, “I never took a shilling from him. If I got anything, it was a gift, like a Tom Ford perfume. Idris knows how he wasted his money, and I wasn’t part of it.”

Despite this, Idris is tired of the repetitive questions about his lost fortune. “Am I the first person to lose money? Some people get so desperate they harm themselves over losing a small amount, but I’m still here, and I’m doing okay,” he said, emphasizing the ups and downs of life. He pointed out that the focus should be on how he managed to bounce back from his financial loss, rather than continuously dwelling on it.

Idris also refuted Wema’s statement, stating, “Even if she didn’t directly spend my money, let’s be honest—she must have spent at least Tsh100 of it.”

Idris, who won the Big Brother Africa: Hot Shots reality show in 2014, has moved on from the controversy, focusing on his career and current financial stability.
