Journalist Jeff Koinange hosted lawyer Morara Kebaso on his JKLive show on Wednesday, August 28, but has been criticised on how he conducted the interview.

During the heated talk, Kebaso sensationally claimed President William Ruto personally called him and offered him a government job, a move he claimed aimed to entice him into the government fold.

However, Jeff did not demand any proof or substantiation of the purported call to find out if it was true or not and went on to ask other questions.

This caught the attention of State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed, who called into the station and debunked Kebaso’s claim.

Hussein vehemently denied Ruto ever calling Kebaso and offering him a state job, urging the lawyer to stop lying on national TV.

"I am shocked at what Morara is saying. I wonder why he would lie on national TV that the president called him. For the record, such a call never happened. It is a statement of his imagination," said Hussein.

The spokesperson further called out Jeff for not demanding substantiation of the call claims from Kebaso, urging the journalist to act professionally.

"What is shocking, Jeff, is that you can allow anyone to come on TV and tell you such a thing without demanding any proof or substantiation, and you just buy it. All you should have done at the very least is say that those are his words, and it is an alleged claim from him, not just to accept and say okay, the president called him.
Anyone can say that, many people say that, it is all a he said he said thing, let him substantiate the claims. I have been a journalist and you have to demand substantiation," said the fiery Hussein.

Despite the repeated calls from Hussein for Kebaso to prove the claims of the supposed call, he did not do it.

Hussein said he acknowledged the role of accountability in governance but asked Kebaso to do it truthfully and accurately.

“What Morara Kebaso and others are doing is crucial for our democracy, and the President welcomes it. However, it’s vital that such activities are conducted truthfully. The President has committed to completing the projects that were started under the previous administration, and he’s doing exactly that," added Hussein.
