Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale on Friday helda a high-level consultative meeting with the Council of Governors (CoG) to align efforts on major health sector reforms and the rollout of Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
The meeting, held in Nairobi, brought together key stakeholders including CoG Health Committee Chair and Tharaka Nithi Governor Muthomi Njuki and CoG CEO Ms. Mary Mwiti.
Top on the agenda were the implementation of UHC, the transition from the Medical Equipment Services (MES) to the new National Equipment Services Programme (NESP), and the Building Resilient and Responsive Health Systems (BRRHS) programme.
The leaders also discussed intergovernmental matters such as the absorption of UHC staff and mechanisms for ensuring a smooth rollout of the BRRHS initiative.
Both the national and county governments reaffirmed their shared commitment to strengthening health systems and improving service delivery through coordinated, sustainable reforms.
“The success of UHC and related reforms depends on the full cooperation between the two levels of government,” CS Duale emphasized, calling for joint ownership of health priorities.
Governor Njuki reiterated the counties’ readiness to support the Ministry in delivering quality, accessible, and affordable healthcare to all Kenyans.
