Health Cabinet Secretary Hon. Aden Duale has pledged continued government support for the Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC), while cautioning against the unchecked growth of health-related courses across the country.
Speaking at the official opening of the 8th Biennial KMTC Scientific Conference in Nairobi, Duale emphasized KMTC’s role in producing competent, service-ready health professionals. “KMTC will not offer credentials without competence,” he said, warning that unregulated programs could undermine public health goals.
Themed “Advancing Equity in a Rapidly Changing Environment,” the conference brought together health stakeholders, academics, and researchers to discuss innovations and strategies aimed at achieving Universal Health Coverage (UHC).
In his first official visit to KMTC as Health CS, Duale met with the college’s leadership and stressed the importance of aligning training programs with national health needs, while upholding integrity and accountability.
During the visit, he also flagged off five double cabin vehicles for KMTC campuses to improve student access to clinical sites and support community health services.
Duale was received by KMTC Board Chair Mr. Joseah Cheruiyot, CEO Dr. Kelly Oluoch, and Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth.
