The Kenyan police officers in Haiti launched an ambush at Baz Delmas on Sunday night, forcing gang leader Jimmy Cherizier alias Barbecue to flee.
Notably, Baz Delmas is Barbecue’s stronghold. The dreaded gang leader escaped alongside his militia.
The surprise attack by officers attached to the Haiti National Police (HNP) and Kenyan officers who are leading a Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission saw Barbecue’s operation base demolished.
Recovered at the scene were several stolen vehicles that were used by the armed gangs during their operations.
Barbecue was captured escaping together with several gang members via drone surveillance, which is used to track his movements.
