Gucha Stars FC have officially earned their place in the National Super League (NSL), capping off a period of uncertainty with a favorable ruling from the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Leagues and Competitions Committee.

The club’s promotion was confirmed following the resolution of a contentious dispute stemming from a rescheduled FKF Division One match against Nakuru Bucks FC.

The fixture, held on September 26 at Ulinzi Sports Complex, was abandoned in the 86th minute with Gucha Stars leading 2–0, after fans confronted an assistant referee, forcing officials to halt the game.

Adding to the tension, Gucha Stars had filed a formal protest before kickoff, questioning the eligibility of several Nakuru Bucks players. However, in a virtual meeting held on September 30, the FKF Committee dismissed the protest, citing insufficient grounds to support the claims.

Most significantly, the committee ruled to uphold the match result at the time of abandonment—awarding Gucha Stars a 2–0 win and confirming their automatic promotion to the NSL.

The decision brings closure to a drawn-out saga that had reached the Sports Disputes Tribunal, with FKF’s legal department committing to a swift resolution.

For Gucha Stars FC, the ruling marks a historic breakthrough as the club prepares to compete in Kenya’s second-tier league for the first time.
