Today, Dr. Deborah M. Barasa, Cabinet Secretary for Health, and Prof. Kithure Kindiki, Cabinet Secretary for Interior, convened a meeting with National Government Administration Officers (NGAOs) to discuss the rollout of the Social Health Authority in preparation for the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) launch on October 1, 2024.
Dr. Barasa emphasized the importance of community engagement in helping the public understand the benefits of the Social Health Authority.
She urged stakeholders to assist in registering 60% of households by the launch date, highlighting that UHC is a key priority for the Kenya Kwanza government.
“I encourage each of you to become ambassadors for the Social Health Authority and UHC to ensure that all Kenyans have access to comprehensive health services without financial hardship,” she stated.
Key officials present included Principal Secretary for Internal Security Dr. Raymond Omollo, Principal Secretary for Medical Services Mr. Harry Kimtai, Chairperson of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors Dr. David Ndii, and Director General for Health Dr. Patrick Amoth, among others.
