Bungoma Governor Ken Lusaka has extended an offer to AFC Leopards to make Masinde Muliro Stadium in Kanduyi, Bungoma, their official home ground.

Lusaka recognized the challenges the club has faced due to the absence of a permanent venue, which has impacted their connection with Western Kenya fans.

He highlighted that, like other local clubs such as Nzoia Sugar FC with Sudi Stadium, Kenya Police FC with Police Sacco Stadium, and Shabana FC with Gusii Stadium, AFC Leopards should have a dedicated home ground for their matches.

With a strong fanbase in Western Kenya, Lusaka believes the stadium could serve as a perfect anchor for the club, drawing a parallel to the way other major teams, like Manchester United with Old Trafford and Arsenal with the Emirates, have their own iconic home grounds.

“AFC Leopards needs to have a base—a place to call home. Nairobi belongs to everyone, but just like Manchester United has Old Trafford and Arsenal has the Emirates, AFC Leopards should have their own home ground,” Lusaka stated.

He also emphasized that Masinde Muliro Stadium, which is nearing completion, offers facilities that rival those of Nyayo Stadium.

“We are putting the finishing touches, including a canopy, and the VIP section is comparable to Nyayo Stadium, if not better, as it meets presidential standards, as seen during the Madaraka Day celebrations,” Lusaka added.

Additionally, Lusaka expressed his support for AFC Leopards’ corporate strategy under the current task force. He believes the corporate and Sacco model, inspired by successful examples from Tanzania, will help the club improve its standards and stability.

“The task force has gathered valuable recommendations, and I believe the corporate route will be beneficial for the club’s growth,” Lusaka concluded.
