Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba and Kisii Governor Simba Arati have kicked off a tour across Gusii to review and revive stalled government projects, among them the long-abandoned Suneka airstrip.

The exercise comes just weeks after leaders from the region met President William Ruto at State House to push for faster implementation of development pledges.

Speaking in Suneka, Bonchari, on Friday, CS Ogamba confirmed that technical teams have already been deployed to re-assess the site and draw up fresh plans for the airstrip’s reconstruction.

“The Kenya Kwanza Administration is committed to expanding transport infrastructure across the country, knowing that such projects are key drivers of economic growth. The construction and re-commissioning of Suneka Airstrip is part of these efforts,” he said.

Apart from the airstrip, other projects lined up for revival include Kisii Prison, Gusii Stadium, and several key roads within the region.
