The government has issued 15,000 title deeds to residents of Kamuwongo in Mwingi North, Kitui County, as part of ongoing efforts to address long-standing land ownership challenges in the region.

The initiative is part of a broader national programme aimed at streamlining land tenure and promoting land security across Makueni, Kitui, and Machakos counties.

During the event, the government also launched the tarmacking of the 13-kilometre Kamuwongo–Kandwia road, a key section of the larger Mwingi–Kamuwongo–Ciangera road network.

Once complete, the road will connect the Thika–Garissa highway at Mwingi town with the Ena–Chiakariga road, significantly improving transport links and market access for farmers and traders in the region.

President William Ruto said the dual initiatives, land title issuance and infrastructure development, are part of the government’s wider plan to enhance economic growth, promote social stability, and improve livelihoods in Kenya’s arid and semi-arid regions.
