Government Backs Digital Businesses After Talks With Glovo

The government has once again shown support for technology-dependent businesses following a meeting between officials and Glovo representatives.

Principal Secretary for Broadcasting and Telecommunications Stephen Isaboke met Glovo’s Kenya boss Caroline Mutuku on Tuesday to discuss how digital businesses are growing and the opportunities they are creating in the country.

The talks focused on how technology is shaping the way businesses operate, helping companies reach more customers and opening up new ways of doing business.

The officials also considered how the use of digital platforms has helped foster innovation and economic development amid the increasing number of young people seeking jobs through the Internet.

During the engagement, Isaboke congratulated Glovo on its efforts to develop further by creating employment opportunities for young Kenyans.

Isaboke noted that the government will always endeavor to foster an enabling environment for entrepreneurs, including companies relying on digital means to advance their operations.

Others who attended the meeting included Secretary for Telecommunications and Postal Services Mr Alphonce Kanunga and Mr Robin Busolo, Regulatory Affairs Manager of the Communications Authority of Kenya.

The meeting comes at a time when digital businesses are becoming a key part of Kenya’s economy, with more companies and young people turning to technology-driven solutions.
