Germany’s Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs (Dr Johann Wadephul) will carry out a two, day official visit to Kenya with the purpose of stepping up bilateral cooperation and further cementing the long, standing partnership that has existed between the two.
The visit reflects the progress made by the two countries in their ongoing effort to establish a partnership that not only strengthens their relations but also allows them to enjoy the benefits of the partnership while making contributions to both regional and global stability.
On Wednesday, 21st January, 2026, Dr. Wadephul is going to hold bilateral talks with the Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, Dr. Musalia Mudavadi. Trade, investment, education, technology transfer and health care are among the sectors in which the two countries are expected to intensify their cooperation.
There are also plans for the German Foreign Minister to have a one, on, one with the Head of State William Ruto and other meetings with senior government officials.
The key item on the agenda during the talks would be the Bilateral Labour Mobility Agreement which Kenya and Germany are working on. The aim of the agreement is to facilitate the provision of structured job opportunities for Kenyan professionals in the German labour market thus enabling Germany to solve its problem of lack of skilled workers in some sectors.
The arrangement is being viewed as an instrument that can generate mutually beneficial results which could help enhance the relations between the two countries
