Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has suffered another blow in his attempt to stop the impeachment motion against him from proceeding.
Gachagua had moved to the High Court seeking orders to block the National Assembly from conducting the scheduled public participation of the impeachment motion.
The DP also wanted a stay order against any proceeding on the motion until the case is heard and determined.
However, High Court Judge Bahati Mwamuye declined to issue the two orders, but certified the case as urgent.
"This application dated 02/10/2024 shall be mentioned on 09.10.2024 virtually to confirm compliance and take directions on the expedited hearing and determination of the matter," Ruled Mwamuye said.
Gachagua’s impeachment motion was tabled in the National Assembly on Tuesday, October 1, by Kibwezi West MP Mwengi Mutuse.
