Former Deputy President and DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has framed his party’s post–by-election strategy as part of a broader political realignment ahead of the 2027 General Election, saying the formation is rapidly transforming into a national movement.
Speaking after a National Executive Council meeting in Nairobi, Gachagua pointed to the Emurua Dikirr by-election, where he said DCP narrowly finished second, as evidence of growing support in regions traditionally seen as strongholds of rival political formations.
He described the outcome as a reflection of shifting voter sentiment at the grassroots level.
He said the party had received a surge of interest from aspirants seeking to contest various elective positions under the DCP ticket, including parliamentary, senate, and county assembly seats, arguing that this was an indicator of expanding political trust in the party.
Gachagua also announced new appointments within the party structure, drawn from multiple counties, saying the move was aimed at strengthening national coordination and building a more structured grassroots network.
He added that preparations for upcoming by-elections, including Ol Kalou, had already begun under designated party leadership.
The DCP leader further claimed that internal membership registration had grown significantly, describing the party as one of the fastest-expanding political movements in the country based on its recruitment figures and aspirant interest.
On governance and national cohesion, Gachagua emphasized that political competition should remain peaceful and conducted strictly through democratic processes, warning against actions that could undermine stability ahead of the 2027 polls.
He also urged institutions responsible for political party regulation to ensure fairness and openness in party membership transitions.
