Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Thursday, alongside a group of opposition leaders, met with the Inspector General of Police to raise concerns over alleged police brutality and unlawful actions by security personnel.

Gachagua was joined by Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa, former National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua, Cleophas Malala, and several elected officials. The leaders expressed deep concern over a perceived culture of impunity in the country.

“We cannot live in a nation where unlawful actions go unpunished. The culture of goonism has no place in a civilized society,” Gachagua said. He added that injustice against any Kenyan, regardless of tribe, belief, or background, threatens the progress of the 2010 Constitution.

Gachagua noted that several citizens had reportedly lost their lives to unlawful acts by police and criminal gangs, yet little action had been taken, despite the perpetrators being known.

He vowed that the leaders would continue advocating for accountability. “Kenya is bigger than any individual, whether in authority or not. We will not relent in seeking justice,” he said.

The former deputy president also announced plans to return to Othaya Town over the weekend, emphasizing the importance of unity and standing firm as citizens. “We shall not bow. Together, as a united people, we will continue to defend our nation,” he said.
