Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has revealed plans to form a new political alliance as he prepares for the 2027 General Election.
Speaking in Murang’a on Sunday, Gachagua said consultations are ongoing with religious leaders and political allies, with a formal announcement expected in January.
“I am in talks with religious leaders and politicians. Come January, I will tell you what we have agreed on,” Gachagua said, adding, “Never again shall we find ourselves in the hole we are in.”
The former DP accused his successor, President William Ruto, of betrayal and misleading the Mount Kenya region during the 2022 General Election.
Gachagua’s remarks come amidst growing calls from his allies to establish a new political vehicle following his impeachment last month.

Gachagua made history as Kenya’s first Deputy President to be impeached after the Senate upheld his removal on October 17, following a National Assembly resolution.
Since then, he has emerged as a vocal critic of the Kenya Kwanza administration, accusing it of intimidation and harassment.
In recent weeks, Gachagua has raised concerns over his security, alleging surveillance by state agents. He claimed unmarked vehicles have been trailing him and monitoring his movements.
In a series of tweets, he recounted an incident involving a suspicious saloon car parked outside his Nairobi residence, allegedly following him throughout the day.
“These tactics remind us of the oppressive methods used by past authoritarian regimes. I fear for my safety,” Gachagua said.
Political analysts view Gachagua’s moves as a strategy to galvanize support in Mount Kenya and beyond, positioning himself as a key player in the 2027 elections.
Observers say the potential alliance could challenge the Kenya Kwanza coalition, signaling heightened political activity as the country prepares for the next electoral cycle.
Gachagua’s criticism and his call for a new alliance have sparked conversations about the evolving political dynamics in Kenya and the role of opposition voices in shaping the nation’s future.
