The Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs has launched the Coast edition of its Foreign Policy Mashinani outreach, aiming to engage Kenyans on the Revised Foreign Policy 2025.

The two-day sensitisation process began with a meeting between the Ministry’s Director-General, Ambassador Josphat Maikara, and Mombasa County Commissioner Mohamed Nur Hassan. The sessions are taking place at the Bandari Maritime Academy and will run until November 27, 2025.

The Mashinani initiative, which began in Kisumu in October 2025, seeks to inform the public about the eight thematic areas of the Sessional Paper Number 1 on Kenya’s Foreign Policy 2025. Members of the public from Coastal counties including Mombasa, Kilifi, Tana River, Kwale and Lamu are expected to participate.

The sessions will also provide insights into the operations of various government agencies, their mandates, and how citizens and institutions can partner with them to advance Kenya’s national interests.

Ambassador Maikara is leading the MFDA team, accompanied by Ambassador Lucy Kiruthu, Ambassador Joseph Masila and Ms. Emma Gicheha from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs.

The public sensitisation will be officially launched on 26th November by Principal Secretary for Foreign Affairs Dr. Korir SingOei and Mombasa Governor His Excellency Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir.

“The Mashinani process is a crucial platform to connect Kenyans with our foreign policy priorities, ensuring that citizens understand and contribute to national goals,” said Ambassador Maikara.
