The Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has vowed to take strict action against those responsible for the alleged harassment and physical assault of match officials during two football matches over the weekend.
The Leagues and Competitions Committee (LCC) issued a statement confirming they have received detailed match reports on the incidents and will make a decision by Thursday this week.
“The Federation has received comprehensive reports from the referees’ department regarding these incidents. The FKF Leagues and Competitions Committee (LCC) is reaching out to the clubs involved for their responses,” said Peter ‘Kass Kass’ Kamau, chair of the LCC.
Kamau added: “The LCC, in collaboration with the FKF Leagues and Competitions Manager, will meet on Thursday to review the reports and determine the appropriate course of action. A thorough statement outlining our findings and decisions will be issued after the meeting.”
The two incidents took place during a National Super League (NSL) match between 3K FC and Kibera Blackstars at Moi Stadium in Embu, and a Division One match between Compel FC and GFE 105 FC at Ilala Stadium in Webuye.
In the first incident, videos shared on social media show unidentified individuals attacking the referee after 3K FC lost 1-0. The home team was upset after three of their goals were disallowed.
Similarly, the match between Compel FC and GFE 105 was marred by disturbing scenes of fans chasing the referee, accusing him of bias. GFE 105 was leading 1-0 at the time.
The federation condemned both incidents and reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining discipline, respect, and fairness in Kenyan football.

“We are committed to ensuring the safety and security of match officials while upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship and integrity in the game. Any form of violence or intimidation against match officials will not be tolerated and will be dealt with firmly,” Kamau stated.
