Detectives in Kiambu Sub-County have arrested five suspects linked to a kidnapping incident in Ruaka.
The investigation was triggered after the victim’s girlfriend received a ransom demand of Sh500,000 from an unknown caller who had answered her boyfriend’s phone.
Acting on intelligence, detectives launched a manhunt that led them to Ithanga, Murang’a County where the victim was rescued with visible injuries and a blood-stained shirt.
The suspects; Sydney Ezra Achanda, John Louise Omondi, Enock Sum Cheruyot, Peter Kanini Mwangi, and Lucy Sara Muhonja were apprehended near Quickmart Thindigua.

Police also impounded two getaway vehicles: a Suzuki Swift (KDD 841D) and a Mazda Demio (KDP 468Y).
A search of the vehicles uncovered a kitchen knife, ten assorted mobile phones, a tablet, and other items.

By the time of arrest, the suspects had already received Sh68,000 in ransom. All five are currently in custody and will be arraigned in court upon completion of investigations.
