A community that has been following her growth through pictures and loving updates is now coming together in grief and in support following the passing of Neilah Mirera, the young girl who captured hearts across social media platforms with her brave fight against a rare genetic disorder.
Neilah, who was born on 14th February 2018, passed away peacefully on 15th February 2026, just a day after celebrating her eighth birthday. Her bright smile and brave heart inspired thousands of people who followed her journey on social media platforms, where her family documented her fight against Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA), a progressive genetic disorder that causes progressive weakness and wasting of muscles.
In the wake of her death, the family has issued a statement seeking financial support to give Neilah a befitting and dignified send-off. The statement has been widely shared on social media and community platforms
