Family From Sengani in Tala, Machakos County is Pleading for Justice After Their Kin’s Death, a Grade 10 Student who died at unclear incident at Ngelani Secondary School.
The family claims that the student who was an orphan may have died after being hit by the schools lorry. According to the report, a teacher had directed the student and a few others to help push the vehicle and it was during this that the unfortunate incident happened.
The family say that the information they have is very limited and inconsistent and hence the suspicion that the school authorities may be guilty of negligence and lack of transparency.
The sorrow, stricken family is appealing to the Ministry of Education and the investigative authorities to carry out thorough and independent probes on the matter.
Local residents have also reacted with shock to the accident and are calling on schools to make student safety their priority and to avoid exposing learners to potentially hazardous tasks.
