The University of Eldoret will honour the triple Olympic champions Faith Kipyegon with an Honorary Doctorate in Education Arts during its 13th graduation ceremony on November 21.
This recognition comes in light of her remarkable season, which featured three world records, her third Olympic gold medal in the 1,500 meters, and a silver medal in the 10,000 meters.
Kipyegon, a double world record holder, is celebrated as one of the top middle- and long-distance runners, holding the world records for both the 1,500 meters and the mile.
The university praised her as the first athlete to secure three consecutive Olympic gold medals in the women’s 1,500 meters. Notably, during the 2023 season, she set world records in the 1,500 meters and the mile within just 49 days.
In addition to these accolades, Kipyegon’s achievements have led to her nomination for the prestigious World Athlete of the Year 2024 award.
Kipyegon concluded the 2024 season on a high note, solidifying her status as a leading global athlete.
