Kenyan music producer Evibez Africa has raised questions about the collaboration practices of musicians Willy Paul and Bahati.

Sharing on social media, Evibez wondered why the pair rarely work with young, upcoming artists, asking whether their strategy is selfish. He emphasized on the structural and contractual issues within the entertainment industry.

His concern about the two was to help in the role of mentorship and inclusivity that will help them shape their creativity and Kenya’s creative scene.

Willy Paul and Bahati continue to dominate with solo projects and collaborations with established names, showcasing their talent in music. Bahati’s latest song featuring Mr. Seed “Mimi na Wewe” was removed from YouTube.

The speculation has led to whether the two are intentionally protecting their brand identity or missing opportunity to nurture talents of the next generation.

Evibez has emphasized the need for a clear contractual agreement, transparent music distribution and a better support structure to protect both established and rising artists from exploitation.

Emerging artists themselves often show interest, pointing out that collaborations with big names, it open doors to radio play, streaming success and recognition.
