The Director General of the Kenya Urban Roads Authority (KURA), Eng. Silas Kinoti, EBS, FIEK, has reaffirmed Kenya’s commitment to transparency, efficiency, and accountability in public procurement, as the country prepares to fully transition to a digital procurement system.

In line with the Presidential directive and the ongoing Public Finance Management Reforms, all national and county government procurement processes will be conducted exclusively through the Electronic Government Procurement (e-GP) System starting 1st July 2025.Eng. Kinoti emphasized that this strategic move is part of Kenya’s broader effort to enhance public sector integrity while improving efficiency in procurement activities across all government entities. “We are transitioning to a fully digital procurement system to streamline processes, reduce costs, and improve service delivery,” said Eng. Kinoti.

All suppliers, contractors, and consultants wishing to participate in any government procurement process must register on the e-GP portal before the 1st July 2025 deadline. Registration is available through the official website at www.egpkenya.go.ke.

Eng. Kinoti highlighted that the digital platform will offer several benefits, including lower procurement costs, faster and more efficient procurement processes, greater transparency, and uniform procedures across government agencies.

The e-GP system will also strengthen data integrity, confidentiality, and authenticity throughout the procurement cycle. The transition to the e-GP system represents a significant milestone in Kenya’s journey toward transforming urban mobility and public procurement management.

To support a smooth transition, the National Treasury and the e-GP help desk are offering continuous assistance to all prospective suppliers and contractors. Interested parties can visit the e-GP offices at the Treasury Building in Nairobi or access services at any Huduma Centre.

Eng. Kinoti called on all stakeholders to embrace the new system, noting that digital procurement is the future of transparent and efficient governance.
