Deputy Inspector General of Police Eliud Lagat has stepped aside from his position following the murder of X influencer Albert Ojwang while in police custody.
In a statement, Lagat said he had stepped aside pending the completion of investigations into Ojwang’s killing at Central Police Station in Nairobi.
While out of office, the outgoing DIG said his functions will henceforth be performed by his deputy until completion of the investigations.
"I undertake to provide any support that may be required of me during the investigations of the unfortunate incident. I offer immense condolences to the family of Mr. Albert Ojwang for their great loss," added Lagat.Ojwang was arrested in Homa Bay following a complaint made by Lagat.
