In a vibrant community outreach, the World Scout Parliamentary Union (WSPU) Kenya, in partnership with Kitui County MP Dr. Irene Kasalu, visited A.I.C Ndonguni Junior School under the “One Scout, One Uniform” campaign.
The event brought joy to students as WSPU donated scout uniforms to the school troupe, enhancing their identity and morale in scouting activities.
Dr. Kasalu said, “This campaign is not just about uniforms, but about dignity, pride, and participation in shaping disciplined young citizens.”
As part of her continued support for education and girls’ empowerment, Dr. Kasalu distributed sanitary pads to girls and provided refreshments for the entire school community.
“This small act of care helps our girls stay in school comfortably and with confidence,” she said, adding that it aligns with NGAAF’s mission of promoting education and gender equality.
The event also featured a major tree-growing activity, aligning with President William Ruto’s national agenda to plant 15 billion trees by 2032.
The initiative was led by an official from the Kenya Forest Service, alongside representatives from NGAO, the Village Administrator’s office, and MOYAS.
Parents, teachers, and pupils all took part in planting trees, symbolizing a united community effort toward climate action and environmental sustainability.
One parent expressed gratitude, saying, “This is a great example to our children. We appreciate the leadership shown today.”
Lydia Kavete, the Kitui County Coordinator for NGAAF, said, “We are glad to join hands in projects that protect our environment while also uplifting young girls.”
The school’s headteacher praised the support, noting it had inspired pupils and strengthened the school’s commitment to scouting and environmental stewardship.
WSPU’s mission remains rooted in empowering the youth while Dr. Kasalu emphasized her dedication to grassroots development and youth mentorship.
