The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has secured a life imprisonment sentence against a Machakos man convicted of defiling a two-year-old child in Kiemboni Village, Yatta Sub-County.

The accused was convicted on September 1, 2026, by Hon. Githaiga at Kithimani Magistrates’ Court after the prosecution provided evidence that linked the accused to the sexual assault that took place on January 6, 2026.

The man was charged with defilement contrary to Section 8(1), as read with Section 8(2), of the Sexual Offences Act, No. 3 of 2006. He was convicted by the court under Section 215 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

Principal Prosecution Counsel Lydia Wang’ombe led the prosecution, demonstrating that the accused was known to the child and her family.

The court was informed that the child was later found bleeding and identified the accused through an intermediary. Medical evidence showed the girl had genital injuries consistent with forcible penetration while police got the child’s blood, stained trousers for evidence.

The court rejected the accused’s claim that he had been falsely implicated over a KSh5,000 debt. The life sentence is backdated to January 12, 2026, when he appeared in court for the first time. He was further ordered to be registered in the Register of Convicted and Dangerous Sexual Offenders.
