Deputy President Kithure Kindiki is expected to tour parts of Kitui and Makueni counties on Thursday as part of a one-day visit to the Ukambani region, focusing on economic empowerment.
According to his itinerary, the Deputy President will visit Zombe in Kitui East Constituency and Mukuyuni in Kaiti Constituency, Makueni County, where he is scheduled to engage with local communities on development and economic empowerment initiatives.
On Wednesday, Kindiki was in Embu County, where he presided over the National Macadamia Conference 2025 held at the Embu University Grounds.
During the event, the Deputy President reiterated the Government’s commitment to promoting local value addition in the macadamia sector.
He said the Government was working to discourage the export of raw macadamia nuts, noting that proper value addition could help the sector generate over KSh 10 billion annually and create up to 30,000 jobs across the country.
Kindiki also assured stakeholders of continued government support in enforcing sector regulations, improving governance, and protecting the international reputation of Kenyan agricultural produce.
