Dennis Okari, a well-known journalist, recently opened up about his brief marriage to media personality Betty Kyalo, sharing candid details about the struggles they faced and the lessons he learned. Speaking in an honest interview, Okari admitted that the foundation of their relationship was not solid, and he now believes it was never meant to last.
Okari recalled meeting Betty while they were both working at KTN, and he revealed that he had always dreamed of having a wedding before starting a family. However, despite this desire, he confessed that there were internal doubts that he struggled to ignore.
“Deep down, I felt something wasn’t right,” Okari said. “I didn’t consult God before making such a big decision.” He acknowledged that without a solid foundation and the right spiritual guidance, the marriage wasn’t built to withstand the challenges they faced.
As time went on, the cracks in their relationship began to show, despite Okari’s efforts to hold things together. “I was trying too hard, pushing my weight around to make it work,” he explained. Unfortunately, their differences grew, and within just six months, the marriage came to an end.
The public attention that followed the breakup took a toll on Okari, leaving him struggling with personal battles. “I sank into depression,” he shared, revealing that the emotional weight of the situation forced him to withdraw from social media.
In his quest for healing, Okari sought divine guidance. “God spoke to me, telling me to step away from social media for a year,” he said. During this time, he focused on his faith, finding clarity and peace. “Looking back now, I realize that marriage was not of God. She wasn’t my wife, and I wasn’t her husband,” Okari concluded, reflecting on the importance of seeking spiritual direction in life’s big decisions.
Through this period of self-reflection and growth, Okari has emerged stronger, with a renewed understanding of what it means to build a healthy and purposeful relationship.
