The Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Amin Mohamed has revealed the last moment of Albert Ojwang, from Homebay to Central Police Station in Nairobi
According to DCI, Ojwang was transported from Homa Bay in a DCI vehicle, a Subaru Forester with registration number AKC 519B and was taken directly to Central Police Station, refuting claims that he was first detained at the DCI headquarters. “He was taken straight to Central Police Station, where he was booked in the cell. And the actual digital booking was done by the report office personnel” he stated
He further explained that GPS data from the vehicle reportedly confirmed the direct route to Central Police Station, nullifying allegations of a diversion or unofficial stopovers.
While at Central Police Station, the deceased was allowed to communicate with his wife Nefinin Apondi, using cellphone number 075808161, who apparently was the father George Onyango.
The communication took place before he was officially booked into the station’s cells. The digital records was obtained from the police station, specifically Occurrence Book entry OB13676/2025, and it says that the suspect was placed in cells while appearing normal.
The booking was carried out by the report office personnel using the station’s digital system, which authorities say rules out any possibility of manipulation or alterations. The report office team is said to have contacted the Officer Commanding Station (OCS)
However, controversy has now surrounded the role of the OCS “The booking was captured digitally, so there’s no room for human manipulation. It has further been confirmed that before the booking, the report office personnel called the OCS” Amin explained
Now the DCI boss is pointing the finger to OCS but not OCPD, claiming that he was called immediately after Albert was taken to the station “And it’s unfortunate, it’s been said that Talam declined to book the suspect. Samson Talam is the officer commanding Central Police Station. And from the totality of things, he should be treated as a prime suspect in the matter” Amin added
