The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has shot down claims circulating on the internet that detectives had arrested Collins Jumaisi Kalusha, who is the main suspect for the gruesome killing of 42 women in Kware, Nairobi.
In a Wednesday afternoon release, the DCI labelled the reports as false, adding that Kalusha is still at large and has never been arrested as reported.
“Our attention is drawn to news making rounds online that Collins Jumaisi, the principal suspect in the horrific Kware murders, who had absconded from Gigiri Police Station in August 2024, has been re-arrested,” the DCI said.
We would like to state categorically that the news of his re-arrest is false. Collins Jumaisi remains at large,” the agency added.
The clarification comes after several online reports that police detectives had rounded up Kalusha last Friday and that he was in custody at the DCI Headquarters in Nairobi.
The DCI has now asked members of the public to come forward and share any information that would facilitate the apprehension of the fugitive. Anyone with workable leads is invited to report at the nearest DCI station or contact the agency through its toll-free number, 0800 722 203.
To encourage cooperation, the DCI put up a Ksh1 million cash reward for tips that will result in Kalusha’s arrest.
The DCI is steadfast in its determination to bring Collins Jumaisi to book and bring him to justice for his atrocities,” the statement said.
Kalusha, who went on the run after being taken into police custody in August 2024, is on the most-wanted list of the DCI and is thought to be responsible for a series of murders which have shocked residents of Kware and the surrounding regions.
