Nigerian music icon Davido has opened up about the deeply emotional journey he and his wife, Chioma, have been on since the tragic passing of their son, Ifeanyi, in 2022.
Speaking in a heartfelt interview with Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1, the Afrobeats star revealed that one of their newborn twins bears a striking resemblance to their late son — a similarity that has stirred powerful emotions for the couple.
“The boy looks just like my son that passed. It is scary. It’s like literally him,” Davido said during the interview, describing the overwhelming sense of familiarity they feel when looking at their son. “We’re like, ‘No, it’s him. He came back.’”
Davido reflected on how losing Ifeanyi marked the lowest and darkest period of his life, leading him to withdraw from public life to focus on healing and being close to family. The devastating loss left a gap that seemed impossible to fill.
However, in October 2023, a new chapter began when Davido and Chioma welcomed twins — a boy and a girl — into their lives. The uncanny resemblance between their newborn son and Ifeanyi has brought both comfort and wonder, creating a sense of spiritual connection for the grieving parents.
“To come back from that and be blessed with twins… it just shows God is real,” Davido shared, expressing gratitude and awe at how life had come full circle.
Now, the award-winning artist says the experience has transformed him. He describes feeling more grounded, more empathetic, and even more inspired to spread love through his music.
The emotional revelation has resonated with fans worldwide, many of whom have praised the singer for his vulnerability and strength in turning pain into purpose.
