The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) officers have arrested the Cooperative University of Kenya ICT officer for allegedly demanding KSh 50,000 bribe.
Evans Watenya allegedly demanded the said cash from a student due for graduation in December to correct an error in the student’s examination results in the university portal.
The female complainant reportedly attained a Second Class Honours Upper Division but was changed in the portal to Second Class Honours Lower Division.
When she went to inquire from the ICT department, Watenya reportedly asked her KSh 50,000 ‘tea’ to rectify the error.
Unable to raise the amount, the lady reported the matter to EACC
Watenya is currently being detained at Kilimani Police Station.
