The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has handed Kenya a significant boost by approving an increase in stadium attendance to 80% capacity, allowing up to 36,000 fans for the upcoming CHAN 2024 match between Kenya and Madagascar on Friday, July 19.

Sports Cabinet Secretary Salim Mvurya confirmed the development, announcing that the ticketing portal has been reopened to accommodate the additional fans.

The move is expected to boost home support for the Harambee Stars at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.

“We urge all Kenyans to continue complying with the set guidelines so that, in future, we can host matches at full capacity without any issues,” said CS Mvurya. “We also encourage all ticket holders to arrive at the stadium early and give our national team the support it deserves.”

Authorities have assured the public that adequate security will be deployed in and around the stadium, as well as in designated fan zones.

Additionally, improved measures have been put in place to streamline ticket sales for upcoming fixtures.

The enhanced attendance comes as a welcome morale boost for the national team, as they continue their CHAN 2024 campaign with high hopes of advancing further in the tournament.
