The Cabinet has approved the National Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) Policy in a move aimed at positioning Kenya as a leading global outsourcing destination while creating thousands of quality jobs for young people.

The policy was approved during Tuesday’s Cabinet meeting chaired by William Ruto at State House, Nairobi.

According to the Cabinet dispatch, the policy is designed to attract international investment, expand digital employment opportunities and enhance Kenya’s competitiveness in the rapidly growing global outsourcing industry.

“Cabinet adopted the National Business Process Outsourcing Policy to position Kenya as a leading global outsourcing destination, create thousands of quality jobs for young people, attract international investment and expand digital employment opportunities,” the Cabinet dispatch states.

The government said the policy will capitalize on Kenya’s skilled and English-speaking workforce, favourable time zone and expanding digital infrastructure to secure a larger share of the global BPO market.

The Cabinet noted that the global BPO market is projected to exceed KSh68 trillion by 2030, presenting significant opportunities for Kenya to increase employment, attract foreign investment and stimulate economic growth.

The new policy forms part of the government’s broader digital transformation agenda, which also includes initiatives to promote innovation, strengthen digital infrastructure and position Kenya as a regional technology hub.
