Controversial Akorino preacher Danson Gathua Gichuhi, popularly known as bishop Johanna, is dead.
Johanna breathed his last on Thursday, August 8, while receiving treatment at Nakuru Provincial General Hospital.
Speaking to TUKIO.co.ke, the man of God’s wife, Mary Wanjiku, said he was admitted to the hospital after suffering from severe headache and was later diagnosed with meningitis, to which he succumbed.
“He had been ill for some weeks and was having severe headaches before being diagnosed with meningitis. He died on Thursday, August 8, while receiving treatment at the Nakuru PGH. His body is preserved there,” Wanjiku said.
Wanjiku said they reside in Langa, Nakuru and were blessed with four children.
The father of four went viral for his unorthodox exorcism methods.
In one of the videos that went viral, the bishop was captured seemingly touching a woman inappropriately in the name of delivering her from spirits.
After massive backlash, Johanna responded to the criticism, refusing to apologise for his acts.
“When you come to the church, it is not many times that I will tell you who bewitched you or what they did to you. I will do deliverance so that the spirit that is disturbing you speaks up,” said Johanna.
