The second Kenyan police officer, who was killed by gangs in Haiti on Monday, March 24, has been identified as Benedict Kabiru.

In a statement, the Presidential Transitional Council (PTC) of Haiti said Kabiru was shot dead during a security operation to flush out the armed gangs in Savien.

PTC mourned Kabiru and honored his bravery and sacrifice to restore peace in the Caribbean country.

"This valiant officer, working alongside Haitian forces to combat insecurity, made the ultimate sacrifice for a better future for our country. His bravery and commitment will never be forgotten," read the statement in part.

Kabiru was part of the Kenya-led Multinational Security Support (MSS) mission in Haiti aiming to rid the country from armed gangs.
