Kameme FM Presenter Baby Top

Kameme FM presenter Gladys Muthoni Njoroge, popularly known as Baby Top, pulled a huge crowd in Engineer town, Nyandarua County on Friday during a live roadshow broadcast, even as her public fallout with Gathoni Wamuchomba continues to gather momentum.

The turnout in Engineer spoke to the presenter’s strong grassroots appeal, with hundreds of fans thronging the venue to catch the live show, sing along and interact with her in person.

The lively atmosphere, however, unfolded against the backdrop of a simmering dispute that has now spilled into the public arena.

The standoff traces back to recent on air remarks and social media commentary in which Baby Top was perceived to have criticised or mocked the legislator, prompting a sharp and personal response from Wamuchomba.

Speaking in an interview on Wednesday, the Githunguri MP accused the presenter of disrespect and ingratitude, claiming she played a key role in shaping her early journey.

“Some of them have the audacity to abuse me today. Some of them have no shame. But I watch them. None of those who have abused me in that sector has survived successfully,” she said.

Wamuchomba went further, offering a detailed account of her alleged involvement in the presenter’s early life and career in Nairobi.

“That girl was brought to me by her father. She did not know Nairobi. She stayed under my watch for three years. I trained her, took her to my studio and gave her a job. Now that she is successful, she can abuse me and try to bring me down,” she added.

She framed the dispute as both personal and moral, suggesting that the matter goes beyond professional disagreement.

The exchange has quickly caught public attention, drawing mixed reactions online and on radio.

While some listeners have rallied behind Baby Top, citing independence in media and freedom of expression, others have backed Wamuchomba, arguing for respect and acknowledgment of mentorship.

Despite the noise, Baby Top has not slowed down. Her appearance in Nyandarua, marked by a strong turnout and high energy from fans, signalled that the controversy has not dented her connection with her audience.

Neither the presenter nor Kameme FM has issued a detailed response to the allegations, but her continued presence on air and at public events suggests she is not stepping back.
